While the specific legal guidelines vary slightly in the United States–indeed, they can be different from one state to the next–the high level points discussed are ones that those considering serving on the board of a golf club should consider.
Big picture consideration: think long and hard before signing up as an officer or a director until you have carefully understood the structure of the organization. Also, make sure there is officers and directors liability insurance in place.
