Investors In Bankrupt Development Seek Recovery Against Jack Nicklaus

Jack Nicklaus recently was sued in Utah federal court by a couple who lost their $1.5 million investment in a development that was to have featured a Nicklaus signature golf course. Apparently, the developer, who filed for bankruptcy, is beyond reach of the couple–Jeffrey and Judee Donner–and their action against Nicklaus and his company seeks to establish that his role was more than that of golf course designer. Their complaint emphasizes the extent of Nicklaus branding of the development to argue that Nicklaus, at least implicitly, was vouching for the overall project. ┬áRead about the case here.

Plaintiff’s counsel is George M. Haley of Holland & Hart LLP, while Nicklaus is represented by Jacque Ramos.
